Moot Hall, Suffolk

Moot Hall, in the seaside town of
Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England
1915

"Its age is uncertain but it is shown on a map of 1594 (preserved in the Moot Hall) as being several streets back from the front, testimony to the relentless encroachment of the North Sea. Today the building houses a museum."

"A moot hall is meeting or assembly building, traditionally to decide local issues. In Anglo-Saxon England, a low ring-shaped earthwork served as a Moot hill or moot mound, where the elders of the hundred would meet."

What does "elders of the hundred" mean, you ask?

You made a few good points there. I did a search on the subject and barely found any specific details on other websites, but then great to be here, really, appreciate that.
