Astronomy photo winner

“Blazing Bristlecone”
Tom Lowe

American Tom Lowe was named the 2010 Astronomy Photographer of the Year by the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England this week. His photo of the MIlky Way was taken in the Sierra Nevada area. The bristlecone pine tree in the picture is the oldest tree on Earth at 5,000 years. It is a brilliant juxtaposition of time relative to Earth, and time relative to the universe.
